Onsoft History – A humble beginning

The company was started in 1994 as Open Networking Services in Cape Town. It provided a range of computer–related services that included:

Network installations
Hardware and software sales.
Consulting and technical support services.
Name change

In 1999, the company name was changed to Onsoft. The change reflected a shift in business strategy and the core focus for the company. Business activities moved more to the supply of software solutions and professional services.

Significant accomplishments

In 2000, Onsoft was appointed the sole supplier of the Track-It! IT Help Desk solution. The rapid success enjoyed with the Track-It!  Helpdesk solution prompted a shift in the company focus with the product becoming a core business line.

Business activities now included selling the solution to customers throughout sub-Saharan Africa and providing related support and training. With experienced sales and customer service teams, Onsoft continues to achieve success with the Track-It! Help Desk solution.

Full Agency Status

Onsoft consistently achieved and exceeded sales targets set by Numara Software, the developers of Track-It! and FootPrints. As a result, in 2007 Onsoft was appointed as a full Agency for Numara Software.

Onsoft was one of only 7 resellers worldwide to appointed as a Numara Agency partner. In terms of this Agency, Agreement Onsoft began trading as Numara Software South Africa.

BMC Software Distributor

Following the acquisition of Numara Software by BMC Software in 2012, the Numara brand has ceased to exist. Onsoft reverted to its original name but remains a reseller and distributor partner for BMC Software, for the Track-It! and FootPrints product lines. Onsoft remains the sole supplier and support distributor for these solutions in sub-Saharan Africa.

Software Development

In response to a wide range of customer requests, our in-house development team created reporting tools to enhance the hugely successful Track-It and FootPrints service management solutions. The toolset adds extensive reporting functionality by mining the massive amounts of data stored in these application databases. This data is presented in various formats that maximise the impact and effectiveness of the information selected. Bi-directional integration between service desk solutions simplifies the flow of tickets between different solutions.

Biography of the founders

The company was founded by Michael Jones in 1994.  Mike subsequently left the company in 2001 to pursue interests abroad.

Joined Onsoft in 1997.

Appointed as a Director of Onsoft in 1999.
